QUOTES

"I thought it was fantastic to have this tool available; I was able to correct misunderstandings of the previous lecture at the beginning of the following lecture. It was also fun to see how student were thinking on their own in a class of that size (>200)."
- Introductory Biology Faculty

"BioBytes help me by reinforcing the day's lecture and asking key points that clarify areas I probably had not connected."
-Biology 103 student

Teaching with Technology: BioBytes
To provide faculty with a tool to evaluate student learning in real time, Project IBS-CORE staff developed BioBytes. This web-based system allows faculty to pose questions between course meetings in a multiple-choice quiz format, which helps reinforce the concepts taught during the day’s lectures. As they respond to the questions, students reflect on the day’s class, think about the reasoning behind their answers, and evaluate their own learning.

BioBytes has been pilot tested by 9 different faculty in Biology 101 & 103. Web-based assessments have demonstrated that the tool is helping students and faculty alike (See graphs below)
