A couple things to keep in mind while using the slide maker:
- 24
Power Point slides will NOT fit onto a roll of 24 slide film.
If you have more than 20 slides to make, you will need a roll of 36
slide film.
- If
you have more than 28 Power Point slides, you will need 2 rolls of slide
film (at least 1 roll of 36 and 1 roll of 24)
- Please
remain at or near the computer while you are making slides.
- The
Slide-Making process may take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour.
- Please
DO NOT leave and return expecting the slides to be complete.
The printing process may encounter an error that will stop the slides
and will not restart without your assistance.
- Please
DO NOT start a job and leave for long periods of time, there may be people
waiting to use the machine.
- If
you have questions or problems, please ask the lab monitor for help.
We will use all our available resources to help you.
Slide
Maker Instructions:
-
Log
on to the computer adjacent to the slide maker
User name:
slidemaker
Password:
slidemaker
Domain:
IBSCORE
-
Load
your slide film into the camera body of the slide maker (just like you would
load film into a regular camera). When
the camera body is closed, the film should advance and the screen should
flash the number of exposures made (0) and the number of slides available
(24 or 36).
-
Save
your Power Point presentation on the E:
drive in the UserData file.
(This will make the printing process go quicker.)
-
Open
the presentation
-
Open
the File menu and click on
Print
-
Check
that the printer is listed as the
Personal
LFR Plus
-
Click
on the Properties button
-
In
the Properties area, click on the Advanced
button
-
Leave
the Paper Size as
Standard Slide
-
Under
the Document Options area,
specify the type of slide film that you loaded.
To do this, click on the words Film
Type, then click on the down
arrow to see the drop down list, scroll
this list and click on the type of film that you loaded (or the closest
to it).
-
Click
OK at the bottom of the screen to
set your selections.
-
Click
OK again (on the Properties
screen)
-
You
will then be back in the print screen. Set
any other specifics that you need to such as print range, etc.
(You do NOT want to click on the scale to fit option.)
-
Click
OK to print
-
You
will get a message from PowerPoint saying that “the slides in your
presentation exceed the printable area of the paper in the printer…”
Click on the Print Anyway option.
(You DO NOT want to scale to fit as this will shrink the
printed slide too much.)
You will need to remain at the
computer and keep an eye on the progress of the printing.
After you click Ok to print, a new screen will open up called WinRascol.
This screen is the print que and will show the status of each slide
sent to print.
-
Watch
the progression of the slides because you may receive an error message.
If the word Error appears in the status column next to a slide, follow
these steps to correct the problem:
- Click
on the word Error.
It will change and say Waiting.
- Open
the Job menu (at the top of the
screen) and click on
Start Que
- The
slide should then change status to Printing.
- If
the slide shows an error message a second time, click on the word Error
to change it to Waiting, click
again to change it to Hold.
- Open
the Job menu and click on Start
Que.
- Basically,
that slide will not be able to print as is (the slide maker does not have
enough memory to accommodate it). You
will need to change the slide and send it to print again after the rest of
the slides are done.
-
When
the slides are done printing*, delete any
slides remaining in the que. To
delete remaining slides: right-click
on the slide title and chose delete in the menu that pops up, repeat for
all remaining slides.
-
Press
the Rewind button on the camera
body of the slide maker, when it is done rewinding, remove the film.
-
Close
all open programs and log off the
computer.
*If all your slides did not fit onto 1 roll of film:
When the first roll of film is full, rewind the film in the slide maker,
and remove it. Load the second roll
of film. Open the Job menu and click
on Start Que.
